Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. (BSNL)

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. formed in October, 2000, is World's 7th largest Telecommunications Company providing comprehensive range of telecom services in India: Wireline, CDMA mobile, GSM Mobile, Internet, Broadband, Carrier service, MPLS-VPN, VSAT, VoIP services, IN Services etc. Presently it is one of the largest & leading public sector unit in India.
BSNL has installed Quality Telecom Network in the country and now focusing on improving it, expanding the network, introducing new telecom services with ICT applications in villages and wining customer's confidence. Today, it has about 46 million line basic telephone capacity, 8 million WLL capacity, 52 Million GSM Capacity, more than 38302 fixed exchanges, 46565 BTS, 3895 Node B ( 3G BTS), 287 Satellite Stations, 614755 Rkm of OFC Cable, 50430 Rkm of Microwave Network connecting 602 Districts, 7330 cities/towns and 5.6 Lakhs villages.

Bharti Airtel Limited is a leading global telecommunications company with operations in 19 countries across Asia and Africa. The company offers mobile voice & data services, fixed line, high speed broadband, IPTV, DTH, turnkey telecom solutions for enterprises and national & international long distance services to carriers. Bharti Airtel has been ranked among the six best performing technology companies in the world by business week. Bharti Airtel had 200 million customers across its operations.

Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI)

COAI is dedicated to the establishment of a world-class cellular infrastructure and delivering the benefits of affordable mobile communication services to the people of India. COAI membership includes the all private GSM operators and other stakeholders such as infrastructure providers, vendors and chip manufacturers. Over the years COAI has emerged as the official voice for the Indian GSM industry and interacts directly with Ministries, Policy Makers, Regulators, international organizations such as ITU and GSMA, etc in order to ensure that issues pertaining to growth and development of the Indian GSM industry are discussed, debated and understood on a wider platform. COAI has been associated with ITU (D) as a Sector Member for around ten years and has found it to be a useful platform for engaging in a global debate on a gamut of development and regulatory issues.

Centre for Internet and Society

The Centre for Internet and Society is a non-profit research organization that works on policy issues relating to freedom of expression, privacy, accessibility for persons with disabilities, access to knowledge and IPR reform, and openness (including open government, FOSS, open standards, etc.), and engages in academic research on digital natives and digital humanities.

RailTel Corporation of India Ltd.

RailTel Corporation Of India Ltd. (RailTel) is a Government of India undertaking under the Ministry of Railways. RailTel has already built state of the art STM-16 network using latest SDH/DWDM Technology for over 36000 Kms thus creating 3500 POPs across the country. RailTel plans to expand the network to over 50000 Kms by 2012 thus creating over 5000 POPs. The complete Network is managed by a Centralized Network Management System, located at New Delhi with backup at Secunderabad/Kolkata. RailTel has also built a highly sophisticated nationwide MPLS-IP network across 40 cities to provide a whole range of Internet & VPN services. The services offered by RailTel includes National Long Distance, Bandwidth leasing (64 Kbps to 155 Mbps & above), Internet Services, VPN Services (Layer-2 & Layer-3 MPLS, VPLS), Tower Space for Antennae (1000+ towers nationwide), Co-location services & Dark Fiber. Further, RailTel provides a host of services to Indian Railways for their various communication requirements. RailTel has connected about 3500 Railway stations on its OFC network and is providing circuits for control communication, administrative circuits, PRS circuits , FOIS and Railnet circuits.

Tata Communications Ltd

Tata Communications Ltd. is a leading global provider of a new world of communications. With a leadership position in emerging markets, such as South Africa (Neotel), Sri Lanka (Tata Communications Lanka Limited), and Nepal (United Telecom Limited. The Tata Global Network includes one of the most advanced and largest submarine cable networks, a Tier-1 IP network, with connectivity to more than 200 countries across 400 PoPs, and nearly 1 million square feet of data center and colocation space worldwide.

Telecom Centres of Excellence (TCOE) India

The idea of Telecom Centres of Excellence germinated with the shared realisation, by the Government and the Telecom Industry, that a high growth trajectory of telecommunications was essential for the overall progress of the country. That said, it could not be achieved without local research, development and innovations for local needs.
The TCOE initiative was converted to reality with the signing of tri-partite Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) between the Department of Telecom, Government of India, participating Institutes and the sponsors from the Industry.
The TCOEs, set up in Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode, are an example of the Government, the Academia and the Industry working together for the sustained growth and progress of the country.

Telecom Disputes Settlement & Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT)

Telecom Disputes Settlement & Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) was set up in May 2000 by the government of India to adjudicate over disputes that arise in the telecommunication sector. TDSAT was established with the view to protect the interest of the consumers and service providers of the telecommunication sector and also to encourage and ensure the growth of the telecommunication sector. The registered office of TDSAT (Telecom Disputes Settlement & Appellate Tribunal) is located in Delhi consisting of a chairperson and two members.

Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI)

The mission of Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI)is to ensure that the interests of consumers are protected and at the same time to nurture conditions for growth of telecommunications, broadcasting and cable services in a manner and at a pace which will enable India to play a leading role in the emerging global information society. One of the main objectives of TRAIis to provide a fair and transparent policy environment which promotes a level playing field and facilitates fair competition. Today there are over 480 million telephone subscribers of which around 440 million are wireless subscribers. On an average over 13 million subscribers are being added every month. The key to the growth has been liberalization, reforms and competition. Forward looking and even handed regulation by the independent statutory regulatory body has promoted competition and consumer interest. The positive regulatory framework has played a major role in achieving the tremendous growth of telecom sector which has contributed significantly to the growth of Indian economy and development process.
