A Workshop for Countries in Special Need was held from 28 January to 2 February 2002 in Nairobi, Kenya for the following countries:

  • Burundi

  • Democratic Republic of Congo

  • Rwanda

  • Sierra Leone

  • Somalia

A number of sector reform activities are being implemented in these countries in 2002-2003.


The Report: From Gunshots to Dial-Tone: Reconstructing Telecommunications & ICT in Countries in Special Need, based on the Regional Workshop referred to above is now available. (For further information please contact Mr. C. L.  Zavazava)

A Partnership Round Table was successfully held in Johannesburg along the ITU Telecom Africa 2001 event. A number of development partners participated and showed keen interest in the Projects/Programmes presented by the following countries:

  • Eritrea

  • Guinea-Bissau

  • Mozambique

  • Nepal

  • Niger

  • Yemen

We extend our profound appreciation to both our Development Partners and Participating Countries for making the Partnership Round Table a success. The minutes of the Round Table are now available and downloadable.
