Former state-run Burkina Faso telco Onatel has signed an agreement with Benin Telecom to give the Burkinabe operator access to the SAT-3 international submarine cable via the landing point in Beninís capital Cotonou, according to a Telecompaper report. Benin Telecomís CEO Patrick Benon said that the fibre-optic link's current capacity stood at 9.7Gbps. Onatel is a 51% owned subsidiary of Moroccoís Maroc Telecom.
