Chilean telco Entel has revealed that it intends to invest USD200 million annually in its Peruvian operations over the next three years, TeleSemana writes. The funds will be used to upgrade and expand the mobile infrastructure of its local wireless unit Nextel, including the deployment of a 4G network in the 1700MHz/2100MHz band. The investment is also expected to fund the rollout of a fibre-optic backbone network to replace existing microwave backhaul. As previously noted by CommUpdate, Entel has selected Huawei to carry out the development work on Nextelís networks
