Training course on measuring Information and Communication Technology (ICT) access and use by households and businesses


30 May - 9 June 2011, Amman, Jordan

The Training Course on Measuring Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Access and Use in Households and Businesses, took place from 30 May to 9 June 2011 in Amman, Jordan. The training was organized jointly by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and in cooperation with the Arab Institute for Training and Research in Statistics (AITRS). The training was delivered to staff of National Statistics Offices and other national institutions in charge of the production of official statistics on the information society from countries of the Arab region. This training is part of the efforts of the capacity building task group of the Partnership on Measuring ICT for Development to assist Member States in the area of ICT measurement. The training is based on the ITU “Manual for Measuring ICT Access and Use by Households and Individuals, 2009 Edition” and the UNCTAD “Manual for the Production of Statistics on the Information Economy, 2009 Revised Edition”.

The training is part of the project onICT indicators and capacity building for ICT measurement in the Arab Region”, which is a project carried by the ITU Arab Regional Office. This project aims to establish effective and efficient mechanisms in the Arab region to collect, analyze and disseminate ICT indicators.
