Language and Length
Reports may be submitted in either English, French or Spanish. They should normally be no
longer than the equivalent of twenty pages of A4-sized paper. Please minimize the use of
photographs so that the capacity of the case library can be utilized effectively.
CONTENTS
Case studies are accepted on the following types of projects:
- Ongoing projects using technolgies specially designed for rural areas of
developing countries, including Multipurpose Community Telecenters, Tele-medicine and
Tele-education;
- Planned projects that make new combinations of technologies to meet the needs of rural
areas such as satellite communications linked with WLL networks;
- Examples of how equipment has been adapted for use in particular, harsh climatic or
geographic conditions of remote and rural areas, such as solar-powered telephones.
In the description of the project cases, emphasis should be placed on the following elements:
- Socio-economic effects on the community;
- Nature of the service and its cost to the users;
- Type of technology used and involvement of manufacturers;
- Effectiveness and sustainability of the project
The contents of reports may be edited, in accordance with the aims of Focus Group (Topic 7).

Submission of case studies in electronic format is preferred. Any format suitable for a Windows operating environment is accepted. Please note that your case study will be downloaded by participants in the format in which you submit it.
- Fill out the Summary of Report Form below and press the Submit button. Each
report must be accompanied by a summary sheet in English.
The summary contains the material that will be searchable by participants using the web site, so please include as many keywords as possible.
This database design allows us to accept case studies in a wide variety of electronic formats and streamlines the process of entering new studies into the database.
