Sub-Regional Seminar and Ministerial Round Table on
Switchover from Analogue to Digital Terrestrial Television Broadcasting in
Central and Eastern Europe will be held from 27-29 April 2009, at the
National Assembly House in Belgrade, Serbia. This meeting has been
organized by the International Telecommunication Union and the Ministry of
Telecommunications and Information Society, the Republic of Serbia.
The Sub-Regional Seminar and the Ministerial Round Table is
an opportunity for a high-level dialogue on switchover from analogue to
digital terrestrial television broadcasting, and is
aimed to consider the most important technical, regulatory and economic aspects.
The objective of the meeting is to discuss in particular the following issues:

Challenges of digital broadcasting (technical, economic and regulatory
issues)

Experience and trends of migration to digital television and radio
broadcasting
-
Harmonization of technical, economic and regulatory issues concerning analog
to digital switchover
The
Ministerial Round Table is an integral part of the programme of the Seminar
with the participation of the Ministers from the Central and Eastern Europe. It
will be chaired by Dr Hamadoun Touré, the ITU Secretary General and H.E.
Minister Jasna Matić, Minister of Telecommunications and Information Society,
the Republic of Serbia.

This event will take place in the National
Assembly House which is located in the city center of Belgrade. Prior to
becoming the National Assembly House of the National Assembly of the
Republic of Serbia, it served as the seat of Parliament of the Socialist
Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. The building has excellent premises for
conducting major international meetings, including Small assembly room for
150 participants and smaller meeting rooms, convenient for the high-level
meetings.
