New Acton Support for Development of Telecommunications Services and Networks

On 7 May 2010, the Polish Parliament passed the Act on Supporting the Development of Telecommunication Services and Networks. The new act was developed under the leadership of Mrs Magdalena Gaj – Minister responsibly for telecommunication issues in the Ministry of Infrastructure in Poland.

The purpose of the Act was to achieve the proper legal basis for the universal access to telecommunication services through new technologies and with the main focus on broadband access.

The Act includes complex solutions to efficiently invest in telecommunication infrastructure and will help to achieve higher levels of competition. Nevertheless, it will stimulate local authorities and companies working under the public utility rules as investors and providers of the telecommunication services.
