RICARDO JOSE LOZANO, Director General, Institute of Hydrology, Meteorology and Environmental Studies of Colombia – IDEAM, Colombia

Geologist, graduated from Universidad Industrial de Santander-UIS, Media Specialist from Universidad de los Andes, with 16 years of experience working with public and private entities on the environmental and social management field, especially with vulnerable communities. Has been advisor of Ministry of Environment, Housing and Territorial Development (currently Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development MADS), UNDP consultant, advisor of  IDEAM and DAMA (Environmental Secretariat of  Capital District) , Deputy of Environmental Studies of IDEAM.

Currently, is Director General of the Institute of Hydrology, Meteorology and Environmental Studies IDEAM (highest hydrology and meteorology national authority) and a Member of the Global Fund for Adaptation to Climate Change of the United Nations – AF, in Bonn, Germany, representing Colombia and all developing countries. Also, he is the Vice President of the Interamerican Institute for Climate Change – IAI, Brazil.

In the past, he was manager of ACTOS LTDA Company, entity in charge of development of environmental and social responsibility strategies. He has published a number of social, economic and environmental articles in newspapers such as El Tiempo, as well as in Externado, La Nacional and Los Andes Universities.  Was Professor of Environmental Policy at the University of EAFIT, and Professor at the Universidad de los Andes- Certified on Climate Change.
