Call for Papers
‘Using ICT for Effective Disaster Management Forum 2006’
26th – 28th September 2006
It is my pleasure to invite you to participate in this joint CTO/ITU organised event. As you will note from the draft programme, this event is designed to play a pivotal role in improving the Caribbean region’s ability to deal with natural disasters.
The use of ICT in disaster management is a core focus area of the work of the CTO and therefore we are delighted to be in a position to organise this event jointly with the ITU. By charging no attendance fee we are hoping that all the disaster management stakeholders will be able to attend and contribute to this event’s success.
With the OUR in Jamaica acting as hosts and CANTO the lead supporting organisation, this event is already attracting a great deal of interest. Therefore, if you are interested in making a presentation and participating as a panellist in the sessions of the agenda please contact no later than 20th August Matthew Dawes at the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation on +44 20 7024 7602 or firstname.lastname@example.org or alternatively Philip Cross at the International Telecommunications Union on (1-246) 431 03 43-4 or email@example.com
Presenters should have experience in the topics discussed in the session as questions from participants and other presenters may be directed to them. For each session of interest, presenters should provide title of presentation, a presentation abstract (no more than three sentences) and two questions they would like to address to further stimulate discussion. Powerpoint slides are limited to no more than 5 slides and presentations up to 15 minutes. A short (5-6 sentences) biography should also be sent attached to the e-mail indicating your name, title, organization, telephone and fax number and e-mail address.
Of course, a vital part of the success of the conference will be dependent on ensuring that we have enough time to make your peers aware of the event. We would therefore appreciate your confirming your participation as soon as possible and no later than 18th August..
Finally, I would to thank you for your time and for your interest in this CTO/ITU event. I do very much hope that you can contribute to its success.
