An Expert Working
Group on E-Commerce took place from 14 to 18 April 2000. BDT
participated in the experts working group to discuss the requirements for an
e-commerce legal framework. The objective of the working group, which
included legal, technology and academic experts from Malaysia, Spain, Egypt,
Iran and UAE was to identify areas where there was a need to establish a legal
and regulatory framework for e-business. The group will present recommendation
to the Arab States Region Authorities.
A Seminar for the
Arab States Region was organized on the 14-16 November 2000. The seminar
had to address high-level policy and regulatory issues aimed at creating an
environment to favor the development and use of e-commerce. This event
was postponed. The event will take place in Tunisia from 15 to 18 May 2001.
