Presentation
took place during the e-commerce conference in Bamako (Bamako 2000)
from 18 to 28 February 2000. The meeting was organized by the ANAIS
Network which objective is to facilitate the acquisition of ICTs in
Africa and ITU’s support and participation.
More
than 1300 representatives of all main sectors of activities from 48
countries participated in the meeting. One of Bamako’s goals was to provide forum to discuss and
recommend concrete actions that will enable the economic, health,
technology, government and educational sectors in Africa to fully
participate in the information revolution. The meeting also appointed the important role that e-business
could play in the social and economic development of Africa and
regional integration of African States.
