The International Telecommunication Union
(ITU) is organising an ITU Workshop on Building Capacity on National ICT Statistics in the Pacific, which will take place at Tanoa International Hotel in Nadi, Fiji, from 24-25 October 2013. The Workshop
will be hosted by the Ministry of Communications, The Republic of Fiji, with support from the Department of Communications, Australian Government.
This Workshop is the first step to address a project proposal from the Pacific Islands Countries for development of Pacific ICT Benchmarks. The Workshop will address, among others, the following topics:
Identification of key international telecommunications indicators.
Definitions, availability, and sources of
Methods of data collection and quality
Roadmap for development of Pacific ICT benchmarks.
The Workshop, open to all the membership in the Pacific, is primarily targeted at those responsible for ICT statistics in relevant Ministries, regulatory agencies, telecommunication operation companies and national statistical offices.
ITU, with support from the Australian Government, will provide one fellowship each per Pacific Member State, on a first-come, first-served basis to participate in the Workshop during 24-25 October 2013. The last date for fellowship application is
15 October 2013.
