In an effort to promote Arab
Digital Content in line with the regional initiative on Arab Digital
Content which was adopted in the World Telecommunication Development
Conference 2010 in Hyderabad, the ITU Arab Regional Office organizes
a regional Forum on this important subject. In this context, the
2nd Forum will be held in Muscat on 4 and 5 May, 2014, titled " The
Developmental Impact of the Industry of Arabic Digital Content ".
This forum is hosted by the information Technology Authority of Oman
and will be held under the auspices of the League of Arab States and
in cooperation with the Ministry of Communications and Information
Technology of Egypt and the UN-ESCWA. Moreover, the forum will
address some of the key issues pertaining to the industry of Arab
Digital Content, including the challenges it faces and developmental
prospects of it. In specific, the Forum will discuss the following
1. Recent Technological
Trends to Enhance the Arabic Digital Content Industry.
2. The Role of Governments
in Supporting the Arabic Digital Content Industry .
3. Key Issues of Media
Content and Electronic Publishing.
4. Challenges and Prospects
for Regional Cooperation to Promote Arab Digital Content .
5. The Role of Arab Digital
Content Innovation in the Development of National Economic Systems.
6. The Progressive Role of
the Academic Institutions in Developing the Arab Digital Content
In addition, a number of
announcements will be made by stakeholders involved in the
organization of the event about some of their key future activities
planned for this year.
It is noteworthy that the 1st
Forum was held in Cairo, Egypt on December 8, 2013. It was hosted
by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology of
Egypt, and was under the auspices of the Arab League and in
collaboration with the UN-ESCWA.
