These details are also presented below to draw your attention to the
great services provided by the telecommunication, network, and IT
partners of ITU for this event.
Telecommunication
services
PCCW,
as the “Official Communication Provider”, is providing all the
telecommunication services to meet exhibitors’ requirements at the
event. Huge improvement efforts have been undertaken at the HKCEC to
cope with the exhibitors’ requirements. The Exhibitors are invited
to place their orders as soon as possible, using the order form (T13)
available in the on-line event
manual located in the ITU Web site dedicated to the event (http://www.itu.int/ASIA2000/EventManual/). For any on-site issues,
please meet PCCW’s team at the service center located in the Atrium
1, Phase I, HKCEC. You can also call the hotline in case of emergency:
Tel: 8300 8300. Event networkAlcatel,
as the “Official Data Network equipment supplier of Event
Network”, partnered with PCCW, “Official co-Provider of Event
Network” to implement a Gigabit network designed to provide
high-speed Internet access and inter-stand communications to
exhibitors and to ITU’s special projects. Each exhibitor is entitled
one Event Network connection, free of charge. However, the exhibitors
are invited to confirm the use of this network connection by filling
and returning the order form (T13) available in the on-line event manual located in the ITU Web site dedicated to the
event (http://www.itu.int/ASIA2000/EventManual/). For any issues on-site,
please meet the teams of Alcatel and PCCW at the Network Operation
Center located in the Atrium 1, Phase I, HKCEC (tel: 83 08 83 08). Satellite servicesShould an
exhibitor require to set-up satellite dishes or use HKCEC satellite
services, please contact HKCEC (the installation of satellite dishes
is subject to the space availability). Frequency co-ordination must be
done with OFTA (see below). P.
K. Chan Frequency licences / import permit and othersExhibitors and media wishing to bring into Hong Kong
any radiocommunications equipment either for demonstration or actual
use for the ITU Telecom Asia 2000 event should approach the Office of
the Telecommunications Authority ("OFTA") to obtain a
short-term permit unless such equipment is exempted from licensing
under the law. In general, cellular phones used in connection with a
licensed public telecommunications service are exempted from
licensing. Low power radio devices which conform to the technical
specifications issued by the Telecommunications Authority
("TA") are also exempted from licensing. In addition, line
communications equipment is exempted from licensing when it is used
