 MEDIA ACCREDITATION PROCEDURE

A strict procedure has been established for the accreditation of media attending TELECOM events. Please note that only editorial staff can therefore be accredited. Prior accreditation at ITU events is not sufficient.

Those seeking accreditation are requested to read this document carefully and ensure that the Accreditation Form is duly completed and returned to the TELECOM Press Service with the supporting documentation.

Journalists should submit one of the following:

  • a letter of accreditation from the Editor-in-Chief (or the News Editor for radio/TV);
  • a photocopy of a national/international press badge valid through to end of event;
  • a recent copy of the page of the publication / credits list of the TV/radio programme which provides the names of regular editorial staff and contributors and which lists the journalist seeking accreditation;
  • copies of a series of recently published (in the last six months) articles where the journalist is credited.

Freelance journalists need to provide:

  • a letter of support from the Editor of the publication for which coverage will be made or is normally made. This letter should be included at the time of application;
  • evidence of related editorial coverage to be submitted within the six months following accreditation to maintain eligibility. To be submitted within the six months following accreditation to maintain eligibility.

Members of the UN Press Corps should only submit the Accreditation Form.

Journalists invited by Exhibitors must also follow the established procedure. Each journalist invited will need to submit the duly completed Accreditation Form and required credentials. Exhibitors should request Exhibitor passes for companies hired to film/photograph the Stand only.

Broadcast media should refer to the broadcast/photo guidelines.

Photographers should also refer to the broadcast/photo guidelines.

Industry analysts are not generally considered as media. For TELECOM events however, editorial staff (max. 4) of newsletters published by consultancies or commercial entities may be considered for media accreditation if all of the following criteria are met:

  • each title is published at least 6 times a year;
  • the information it contains is of general benefit to the telecommunications community;
  • a sample copy of the newsletter is provided with the request for accreditation; and
  • proof of related editorial coverage is submitted within four months after the event to maintain eligibility.

All other representatives (management, marketing/advertising executives, researchers, technical staff not part of a broadcast crew, etc.) cannot be granted press credentials but may register as visitors.

Completed accreditation forms should be returned to:
