2001 the ITU will be paying particular attention to the promotion of universal access to Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) in the context of rural applications.
As a result we have launched an initiative to create a Pavilion in one of the event's prime exhibition halls to specifically focus on new technologies for rural applications. The Pavilion will include a stand where the ITU will be demonstrating its own activities in this area, including a replica of a working rural telecentre.
