2001 the ITU will be paying particular attention to the promotion of universal access to Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) in the context of rural applications.
As a result we have launched an initiative to create a Pavilion in one of the event's prime exhibition halls to specifically focus on new technologies for rural applications. The project complements recent publication of an ITU focus group report on the subject - read the

The Pavilion will include a stand where the ITU will be demonstrating its own activities in this area, including a replica of a working rural telecentre.
