Timing your eventPlease be aware that ITU TELECOMs
provide journalists with a very busy schedule. There will be a large number of events
every day competing for their attention, including the Forum sessions that run throughout
the week. Many journalists are present especially for the early, high-profile events,
openings, keynote addresses et cetera, and many will leave ITU TELECOM AFRICA 2001
as these finish, because of this, scheduling your press event later on in the
week could potentially lead to smaller press attendance.
When you make your press event reservation, be aware of
the latest Forum
schedule and the powerful draws for journalists at the time you plan your event.
Note that the best attended Exhibitor
Press Conference at AFRICA 98 attracted approximately 30 journalists (from the 250+
journalists present).
In summary, there is no ideal time to hold your press
conference - whichever time you choose, there will be other events competing for media
attention.
Press Events Calendar
Being in the Press Events
Calendar is one of the best ways of securing media attendance for your event. To ensure your conference/event is included in this calendar,
please submit form M2
available from the Event Manual. Please note that only designated Primary Press Officers
can submit this form.
The Press Events Calendar forms part of
our Press Kit and will be published on the Web. The Calendar is accessible to accredited
media and designated Primary Press Officers only.
Press Conference Room Location
Two rooms have been secured for your press conferences between
Monday, 12 to Friday, 16 November 2001.
The press conference rooms, Gallagher
Room 1 and 2, are located in the Gallagher Centre building.
Press Conference Facilities
Available at no cost, both rooms include tables
and chairs, podium, speaker's lectern and a reception table at the entrance.
We ask you to restrict signage to one
poster which we request you to bring with you. Literature dispensers will not be provided
by the ITU.
The two rooms have a seating
capacity of 70 and are 97.5m² (7.5m x 13m) each. Floorplans for these rooms will be posted here shortly.
